You election-theft tinfoil heads now have to shut up!

A great side-benefit of Tuesday's election is all of you embarrassing "Bush and Diebold stole the election" nut jobs have to shut up.  If Bush and Diebold can steal elections why didn't they steal Tuesdays?  Afterall the Dem wins were overwhelmingly razor-thin.  Who would have noticed the theft of just a few thousand vote shifts?

A handful of vote-shifts in VA, MO and MT give all three states to the Republicans, why not steal them if you can.

No one stole anything election wise in 2004, we simply lost.  The fact that we could just barely squeak by in most elections in a VERY anti-Bush year proves that.

The most POWERFUL Democat in America? Joe Lieberman!

The biggest screw up in this election cycle other than running a bunch of conservatives to replace their conservatives was the Lamont debacle.  Now Lieberman is the most powerful Democrat in America.

Now the Dems have to give him whatever he wants to keep him caucusing with them.  Whatever he wants they HAVE to give him, they have to.  And still... he just might go to the Republicans.

So let's review.  We alienated and drove Lieberman away and he while being wrong on Iraq he was at least dependably liberal on social issues.  Now Lieberman will tell the Dems what to do:  or else!

You Lamont knuckleheads made Lieberman KING!

Mod/Cons Dems replace Mod/Reps... so what?

This is supposed to be a LIBERAL site and it isn't.  This is just a Democratic Party site.  I don't care a flip about parties, I care about issues.

So Rahm Emannuel went out and found a bunch of conservatives to run as Dems (accept for a slight disagreement on Iraq -- Allen says "stay the course" Webb says the vague nuanced political bullshit about "new direction" -- Webb and Allen are identical conservatives!).  So what?

So now the conservative Republicans will align with a HUGE and growing pile of conservative Democrats and we'll still get the same nonsense.

Big Deal!  And please notice that most just BARELY won which means when 2008 returns and things return to normal with Bush gone THEY ALL LOSE!

Running conservatives under the Democratic Party banner still gets us a conservative.

Most Cong. Dems beating Reps are Conservative

I've been watching this unfold since 2002.  More and more democrats who win are conservative.  Of course, 2004 was awful for us but there were a few so called "bright spots".  But they weren't.  They were at least as conservative as the republicans.  Some of you say "Well, at least they are democrats" but I disagree.

This year the trend continues.  Everyone's all excited about the possibility of taking control of the house, but I'm not so sure.  MOST of the democrats who might displace current republican officeholders are AS or often MORE conservative than the republican incumbent.

I think this is the most ignored issue of this election cycle.  First of all, the dems should win because the party OUT of power during the sixth year election of a two term president always wins big (and I'm trying to ignore the depressing fact that we are actually doing VERY poorly compared to most out-of-power party's in this type of year)and secondly, where they are winning they are winning by running to the RIGHT of the republicans.  In some of these elections it seems like it is a battle to see who can come off as the most or the true CONSERVATIVE.

So, why should we be excited or care?  How is an anti-abortion, pro-Iraq war, anti-gay rights, democrat any better than the same thing in a republican????

I know I'll be trashed on this.  But my interests are all liberal (oops, that's right... I'm supposed to be a coward and let the conservatives define me and now refer to myself as a "progressive")and this site occassionally gives me comfort because there are other liberals here.  But, I've noticed that most of the people on here don't like the truth very much if it disturbs their little daydream world.

FACE IT:  right now, America is a conservative country.  We have to change minds.  If the dems control one or both houses nothing will change:  it will have been done with conservative dems taking the place of conservative republicans.

Hey, and don't just take my word for it.  How about the L.A. Times (hardly a conservative newspaper).  They have written about this several times including today.  Read it yourself:
